The Zambezi Hospital has been organizing the annual Cancer Walk since 2015 whose main objectives are:-
• To create Awareness of the importance of routine screening, early detection, early diagnosis, and treatment as the best cancer control and prevention methods,
• To give support to the patients and families affected by cancer.
This year, the 1st Cancer Walk was held on 25th February and was very successful. The 2nd Cancer Walk will be in September and October. With the support from individuals, schools, and corporates, we were able to raise a total of Kshs 6.5M in both cash and in kind
Media GalleryKenya's cancer is ranked third as a cause of death after infectious and cardiovascular diseases contributing to 7% of total mortality annually. There are over 28,500 new cases of cancer diagnosed, while 22,100 people die of the disease in the same period. Over 60% of these deaths are premature deaths depriving the country of a healthy workforce. The leading cancers in women are breast, cervical, and throat cancers while those leading in men are the oesophagus, prostate, and Kaposi’s sarcoma.
The Zambezi Cancer & General Hospital organizes an Annual CANCER WALKS to commemorate World Cancer Day, which is observed on February 4th every year by raising cancer awareness. The Hospital is situated in Nairobi's South C. In addition to being a general hospital, its focus is on Cancer Awareness, Screening, Control, Prevention, and Research.
